One Day in Badlands National Park
My first visit to Badlands National Park was about 13 years ago during a family road trip to South Dakota to see Mount Rushmore. We didn’t spend more than a couple hours in the park and frankly I don’t remember being too impressed. But then again, I was only 13 years old. Then last week my husband approached me (aka begged me) about taking a last minute trip to South Dakota. I was anything but thrilled. I wanted to visit somewhere new. New to me at least. And South Dakota is one of those “visit only once” states, right? Reluctantly, I conceded and we booked our tickets. Sometimes marriage means…

Spectacular New England Fall Road Trip
For years, I have been dreaming of a road-trip around New England. Since spending basically my whole life in Texas, where you can drive for 10 hours and still be in Texas, I have always been fascinated by the idea of crossing multiple state lines after only a couple hour’s drive. Everyone knows New England to be one of the best places in the US for leaf peeping and all things fall. So what better way to enjoy New England than a fall foliage road trip? This guide will provide you with tips and suggestions for planning your New England fall foliage road-trip as well as recommendations for things to…

The Ultimate Guide to Glacier National Park
On our last day in Glacier National Park, we stopped by a local giftshop to pick up a couple souvenirs to remind us of our visit. The giftshop cashier, a man who had relocated to Montana after his kids were grown, described the park as being an example of “grandeur on display”. And he was right. I have visited a number of national parks (29 to be exact), but there is something truly special about Glacier National Park. This park stands out among the rest. After a mere 30 minutes in the park, I knew that Glacier was going to be my all-time favorite national park. And I was right.…

Hiking the Highline Trail – Glacier National Park
The highline trail is frequently ranked the #1 trail in Glacier National Park for its 11.8 miles of breathtaking alpine views. The majority of the hike skirts the Garden Wall at heights of over 6,000 feet and ascends to the Granite Park Chalet. Hiking the Highline trail was one of my all-time favorite hikes. The trail is also one of the most unique trails I have hiked. The Highline is different from other trails in that the majority of the trail boasts dramatic mountain views instead of requiring hikers to climb through a forest to a higher elevation for a viewpoint. I was nervous before we started our trek, due…

Off-Roading in the San Juan Mountains
The historic San Juan Mountains in Colorado were a prime mining location back in the early 1800s to 1900s. Because of the local mining industry, there is an extensive dirt road network that connects many passes and basins in the area. Today, these dirt roads have become a popular off-roading experience for tourists and locals alike. A popular off-roading route is the Alpine Loop, which connects Ouray, Silverton, and Lake City. Due to its popularity, there are many Jeep and ATV rental options in these towns. We rented our Jeep from a local hotel business outside of Ouray. The total price for a two-door Jeep rental came out to about…

A Two Day Walking Tour of Prague
Post Topic: Two Day Walking Tour of Prague The capital of the Czech Republic, Prague, is considered the historical capital of Bohemia and is rich in architectural beauty. Prague (also called Praha) is a wonderful city that is both old and dirty but also so romantic. A romance that rivals even Paris. Laced with romantic red roofs, winding cobble stone streets, and gothic style architecture throughout, Prague truly has aged well. One of the best things about Prague is that it is very walkable. We only hired an Uber to get us back and forth from the central train station and airport. I have provided a map of all walkable…

Day Trips from Munich
Munich is the capital of Bavaria, the largest state in Germany. A local described Bavaria to us as being just like Texas, “big, loud and proud.” Located just an hour away from the Alps, there are many small villages and sites to visit just a couple hours drive away from Munich. Neuschwanstein Castle Located just 2 hours from Munich and straight out of a fairy tale book is Neuschwanstein Castle. The drive from Munich alone is worth it. I’d have to say that the drive was one of the most beautiful drives I have experienced – lush green meadows, wildflowers, and Baviarian-style houses all backdropped by the majestic Alps. This…

Two Days in London
London is one of those charming cities that you will never run out of new things to see, do, and eat but can also be experienced in one weekend. After hopping off our plane at 6 am (yay! overnight flights), we dropped off our luggage and headed to check out a few of the most noteworthy London sights. Day 1: Visit all of the London “Must See” spots After a delicious English breakfast at a local café, we walked to Buckingham Palace. And because we arrived at 10 am on a Saturday, it was PACKED. Highly recommend checking out this famous landmark at a less trafficked time than we did.…

A Perfect Day in Hallstatt, Austria
There are few places in this world that are as charming as the small village of Hallstatt. Nestled into the side of a mountain on the banks of an alpine lake, this small town is straight out of a postcard. During our stay in Munich, Germany we spent one day in Hallstatt to explore part of Austria’s mountain towns. I so wish we had weeks to explore this beautiful country, but even one day was worth it – what a perfect day. The drive to Hallstatt from Munich consisted of winding mountain roads with each bend boasting a view more dazzling than the one before it. Three hours in the…

Hiking to Fairytale Neuschwanstein Castle
Neuschwanstein Castle is the inspiration for Disney’s Sleeping Beauty castle as well as many others, and it is no surprise why. The castle looks as if it came straight out of a fairytale, sitting majestically on top of a mountain nestled in the foothills of the German Alps and surrounded by alpine lakes. It truly doesn’t get more enchanting than Neuschwanstein Castle. Driving to Füssen After waking up at our Airbnb in Munich, we hopped in the car and headed towards Neuschwanstein Castle, located near Füssen which is about a 2 hour drive from central Munich. Click here for $40 off your first stay at Airbnb.com. The drive to Füssen…
